Any sort of event is a wonder to behold now, never mind an event indoors! But that is exactly what the Mini Fair at Bingley Hall, Staffordshire is!
Mini Fair is an event that has been running for 30 years now, obviously with a pandemic hiatus, but still an incredibly impressive achievement. It is one of the biggest shows in the Mini owners calendar. From showing your pride of ownership with the British Mini Club to selling your wares in the trade hall and just the general atmosphere and hubbub of a great big group of Mini fans together in the same space was, at first quite overwhelming because I don’t think we had seen that many people in nearly two years, but soon felt fun and exciting and, for me, a blast from the past as I was once again dragged (albeit a bit more willingly and twenty years older) round a show and handed various parts for the car to hold/put in my bag *note for any girlfriends/partners of car people ALWAYS take a big bag/multiple bags to put all the things they will inevitably buy in*
There were so many cars to see and plenty of keen owners to talk to, I know Jake had some conversations with a few of them, as he would disappear off for half an hour or so! However, aside from the social aspect, this is the place to buy and sell parts and its perfectly timed to do just that, just after the winter and before the show season really kicks off, giving everyone just enough time to make their adjustments ready for the first shows a few weeks later.
The day was quite a long one, we easily spent five hours wandering round, buying things and taking lots of pictures and filming too. But was also very enjoyable and so nice to be back to a proper big scale event, as well as getting to spend some time with friends the previous evening as well! All in all, a good weekend! And we will, without doubt be back next year!
There are two videos from this event which have been uploaded for your viewing pleasure, you will find links to these below.
Thank you to the British Mini Club for the organisation of the day, to Bingley Hall for hosting, to Jake for driving and to you, for reading!
