Caravan Catch-Up/Introduction

So, here we are, its the middle of February and I don't think that our little (currently pink) project has actually be shared on this little corner of the internet! So, without further ado, here she is; our yet to be officially named and in need of some serious love, teeny tiny caravan...

This little pink project is a Trident Companion Caravan, which we believe to be from the mid 1980's and has been in our possession now for just over six weeks. Jake and I ventured from our house in the South of England, to beautiful North Wales at the start of January after finding this little 'pod', as its become known, on the good ol' Facebook Marketplace! After a few hours having a chat with the previous owner, having a thorough look at the caravan and finding all the little bits and pieces that needed work, oh and finding out all about all the nights away she had with her sister, we were on our way back home again!

We had already made so many plans (in fact, some of these were decided before we even got out the end of the driveway...) for our little pod, we were so excited to get home and have a proper nosey.... however, our journey was temporarily halted as one of the windows fell out... nothing a bit of tape couldn't fix though! Before long, we were on our way back to Jakes family in the Midlands, ready for a night to relax and then journey home in the morning.

The journey ran smoothly until about 5 miles away from our destination, when the car (we took the Renault for comfort and good towing capacity) made the biggest and most almighty BANG! Safe to say it scared us both and we really weren't sure what had happened. But we bravely/stupidly soldiered on as it was now getting quite dark and we were getting quite hungry... for more on this drama, see Jakes post and videos on the channel if you want to know more of the details of what has actually happened. Now, back to the caravan. We had some tea and tried not to think about it, chatted through the 'what ifs' whilst we watched some TV then decided the best thing to do was get some rest. To the next morning...

We woke up and marvelled at our little caravan sat proudly on the drive then spent the rest of the morning trying to find out exactly what was wrong with the car and keeping our fingers crossed that we could either get it fixed or we could continue our drive home in the safety and comfort of our own car. Alas, this was not the case and we all had a lovely trip home in a recovery vehicle. It took longer than planned and wasn't at all how we imagined the weekend going, but we got home safely and thanks to Jake's wonderful mum, had a very tasty dinner when we got there!

We had to wait a week before we could properly get started on doing anything to the caravan but we have since spent every weekend stripping it back to its bear bones, fixing parts (like the window that fell off...) and making it better for the life we live now in 2022, as opposed to what they were doing in the mid 80s when it was first produced. I have also spent A LOT of time cleaning off the stickers and cleaning the general dirt off as well, in some places, it was well and truly gross! Below are some photos of the caravan as we started and where we have got to in the last month of renovations! The changes are quite clear but I think you can all agree, we still have quite a way to go!

I thought now would be a good time to write this post as we are just getting to the point of building the caravan back up, adding all the features we want to and making it work for us! We are both so excited to get away in our little caravan this summer and can't wait for you guys to see us on the road/at events as well!

Don't forget to check out our videos on the channel, for more details as to why we bought the caravan in the first place and also some details on the specifics of what we have done so far!

Thank you for reading, we hope you love the caravan as much as we (and Miss HubNut) do! Speak soon,

Genevieve
