The Party... One Month On

Hello, so, this has been a long time coming, our lives and the YouTube world have been running at a million miles an hour this year and unfortunately something had to give and for Genevieve, this blog was just that... however after some rejiggling of life, we are back and ready to write! Lets get to it shall we?

So, for anyone who missed it, we held our very first social, otherwise known as the Fuel Power Party 2022 (video of the event here if you did miss it!) back in September and we welcome a plethora of cars, bikes and towable vehicles to the Army Flying Museum in Middle Wallop. We wanted to keep this event, which will hopefully be the first of many, as local to us as possible so as to get as many of the fleet and the extended fleet along to join the fun!

The day was busy and we had a few hiccups to start the morning (Miss Millie the Mini was having none of it! Jake puts it down to a failure in the electronic ignition but Genevieve is convinced she was just throwing her toys out the pram as she didn't want her driving her...) either way, thankfully due to the wonderful Matt we were able to get her there, just on the trailer... We hardly saw anything of each other for the entirety of the day and used the following morning to debrief and catch up which was where we worked out approximately 66 vehicles came along to see us on the day, which despite ticketing the event, was more than we had ever expected to actually show up!

If you follow us over on Instagram you will have seen the photos of the cars in their various categories we had all sorts, French, Japanese, German, British and Italian we were so pleased and proud of the event we had planned and created and that everyone who attended seemed to enjoy it too! Two big shout outs to come here, the first to the AOCSSH (Abarth Owners) who brought a great group of cars along, it was lovely to meet and chat with a whole bunch of new people and Dorren had a great day pretending to be an Abarth! The second to the guys at West Country Minis for trekking down, not just in Minis, to the event, the mini presence was great to see as everyone knows we have a bit of a soft spot for them... but also another chance for us again to have a chat and see like-minded people! Of course a huge thank you to everyone else who brought along a car or a bike (or a folding camper) we honestly couldn't get over the love and support we were shown for both us and the channel! It was quite an overwhelming planning process but a hugely humbling day.

One other major thing that happened at the party, was the first outing for our first batch of merchandise! Jake had been hard at work designing and then 3D printing keyrings and magnets, which went down really well! We also had a range of Fuel Power logo stickers that were also quite popular, as well as our absolute favourite sticker a party logo sticker featuring the one and only Trixie! We will be setting up a shop to purchase any of these items online, however, if you see anything you would like, please send us a message and we can organise sending it to you!

We also gave out three awards on the day, all voted for by the lovely attendees of the event! Genevieve's dad made the trophy back, Jake 3D printed the logo and a local engravers made the engraved plaque and we were so proud to be able to hand these awards out (and back to Ian again as the winner from the day with Gertie the A30!) We also had Stuart and his Nissan 100NX and Nick and his Fiat Cinquecento take home trophies on the day as well! Thank you to all three of you and a huge congratulations, very well deserved!

Now we have had a month to process the event and the day seems like such a long time ago already, we are so ready to start planning the next one, where and when we have no idea right now, but it will happen, without a doubt! If you know of any place, any where in the country, please, please send us a message and we will look into it!

We have been wittering on for a while here so we thought we would wrap it up with a final, thank you and moment of pride for the community we have found ourselves in, we couldn't ask for a better bunch of people to share our car trials, tribulations and adventures with especially as the wonderful people who turned up on the day helped us to raise £100 donation that has gone straight to the Army Flying Museum to thank them for all their help and assistance and also to help with the restoration and maintenance of the many vehicles they have in the museum so they can continue to be enjoyed for many years to come!

This corner of the internet is a crazy wonderful little place and we wouldn't have it any other way!

For now, we will leave you to your day... we will speak to you soon!
