The Rowdey Cow West Country Minis Meet – January 2022

Hello, it's me again back with another post full of #carbasedcontent but also with some other exciting things to tell you about too!

Jake and I kept our first trip of 2022 a relatively local and chilled (bitterly cold in fact, and wet) one up to Devizes to meet some of the West Country Minis Owners Club at one of their usual spots, the Rowdey Cow Farm Café and Ice Cream Parlour. Neither of us had been there before, but had seen the signs on previous trips to the Cotswolds so were intrigued to see what we would find!

We knew because of the weather, that the turnout for this little meet was going to be (small hence no video) but once we had parked up and had a quick look at our surroundings we knew that we had to share this charming little place with you all! The café itself was found in a beautiful wooden clad, barn style building that is bright and airy with a wonderfully welcoming atmosphere even on an incredibly rainy day in January!

The menu is vast and portions are huge! Both Jake and I have a long list of dietary requirements between us (as well as having a meal already booked for a certain Mr Lloyd's birthday that evening) so we very often stick to chips, and let me tell you these were GOOD chips just the right amount for a lunch or a side between two. They were really tasty and also great value for money, we can't wait to go back and try something else from the menu.

After polishing off our chips and having a chat with the West Country Mini's Club Organiser, Matt, we headed outside to take some photos of the cars…

As I said, there weren't very many cars there however Jake still managed to talk to the owners for a good 20 minutes to half an hour; so in that time I amused myself with the rest of the things on the site.

As well as the café (and of course the cars when they’re there) you can also find a selection of animals I can't tell you quite how many or what exactly because by this point it was getting drizzly and we decided to not hang about too much longer, but again definitely something worth making effort to look at in the future. There is also a farm shop called the Spotty Dog. We didn't venture into the Spotty Dog on this particular occasion, however I love a farm shop and I can't wait to go back to see more! From what others were saying, it's cool, well stocked and has got some great things for gifts - which was of course in the forefront of everyone’s minds, given that Christmas had only just waved goodbye to Christmas!

One thing that I did spend some time looking at, although completely useless for two people with a dairy allergy was a milk refill station. These refill stations seem to be popping up more and more in the countryside, it is a wonderful idea and something that I think should, eventually, be in supermarkets too! This particular refill station was found just outside the farm shop and intrigued me from the moment I got there. It was essentially a great big machine full of milk ready for you to take your reusable milk bottle and fill it up. However, the one thing that made me most interested about this was the variety of syrups that meant you could also make flavoured milk! It was 50p extra but, as somebody who used to did used to drink milk, especially banana and strawberry milk, I thought this was a really interesting way of making flavoured milk accessible to those who are trying to me a bit more sustainable! If you are local to Devizes and you like drinking milk (both standard and flavoured) it might be worth a visit. Have a look down below for some photos of the refill station, I just think it's just such a great idea and I'm kind of annoyed that I can't use it!!

On that note, and in summary, Rowdey Cow is a great little place to visit and we will be back in the spring where we will be able to enjoy some more tasty food and have a more thorough (and hopefully less rainy) look around!

As always, thank you for reading this blog post, I am excited to be writing more now as I have a swish new laptop, as the process of writing them on my phone, emailing them to Jake and then having to wait until the weekend to upload them, was getting just a little bit complicated! There will be more posts up soon I'm sure.

So, for now, speak soon!
